A solution of (Z)-1,3-dihydro-5-fluoro-4-iodo-3-[(4-methyl-1H-imidazol-5-yl)methylene]-2H-indol-2-one (50 mg, 0.135 mmol) (Starting Material 11), 2M aqueous Na2CO3 solution (0.14 mL), (Ph3P)2PdCl2 (11 mg, 0.0135 mmol) and 3,4-dimethoxyphenylboronic acid (61.7 mg, 0.339 mmol) (Lancaster) in a 1:4 mixture of DMF:1,2-dimethoxyethane (5 mL) was heated at 104° C. for 2 days. The reaction mixture was concentrated and the crude material was purified by C18 reverse phase chromatography to give (Z)-1,3-Dihydro-4-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)-5-fluoro-3-[(4-methyl-1H-imidazol-5-yl)methylene]-2H-indol-2-one. (Yield 19 mg, 37%).
