To a mixture of 5c (0.69 g, 1.96 mmol) and pyridine (0.156 g, 2.0 mmol) in dichloromethane (20 ml) was added tert-butylacetyl chloride (0.269 g, 2.0 mmol). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1 hour. The mixture was washed with brine and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was dried over MgSO4, concentrated and chromatographed to yield the title compound (0.657 g, 1.45 mmol, 72%). 1H NMR (CDCl3, 400 MHz) δ 1.10 (s, 9H), 2.20 (s, 2H), 2.95 (t, J=5.8 Hz, 2H), 3.92 (s, 6H), 4.04 (t, J=5.8 Hz, 2H), 4.92 (s, 2H), 6.18 (s, 1H), 7.29 (d, J=7.8 Hz, 1H), 7.42 (s, 1H), 7.44 (d, J=7.8 Hz, 1H).
