2-(2-Methoxy-3-nitro-phenyl)-5-methyl-thiazole-4-carboxylic acid 47a (300 mg, 1.02 mmol) was dissolved in 15 mL of methanol followed by addition of 30 mg of palladium on carbon. The reaction mixture was stirred for 24 hours under hydrogen atmosphere. The reaction was monitored by TLC until the disappearance of the starting materials. The mixture was filtered to remove palladium on carbon and the filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure to obtain the title compound 2-(2-methoxy-3-amino-phenyl)-5-methyl-thiazole-4-carboxylic acid 47b (250 mg, yield 92%) as a yellow solid.
