5-bromo-3-cyclobutyl-2-methoxybenzaldehyde (1.15 g) was dissolved in n-hexane (5 mL) and triethyl orthoformate (0.93 mL), and Amberlyst-15 (115 mg) was added to the solution, and then the mixture was refluxed for 3 hours. The reaction solution was filtered, and then the solvent was distilled off under reduced pressure to obtain the title compound (1.33 g) as a yellow oily substance.
