To a solution of acetyl chloride (0.5 mL, 7.04 mmol) in MeOH (10 mL) at 0° C. is added (R)-amino-cyclohexyl-acetic acid hydrochloride (1.0 g, 5.16 mmol). The mixture is stirred at 60° C. for 16 hours. The reaction mixture is allowed to cool to room temperature and concentrated. The resulting residue is triturated with Et2O to afford the title compound (1.0 g, 93%).
