Procedure

0.15 g of 2-deoxy-scyllo-inosose synthesized according to the method described in WO 2006/112000 was added to 1.35 mL of 0.5 N acetic acid water, and the resulting mixture was heated at 120 degrees centigrade for 1 hour. After the completion of the reaction, a quantitative analysis was carried out using HPLC and as a result, (4S,5R,6S)-4,5,6-trihydroxy-2-cyclohexene-1-one was obtained at a yield of 33%. At this time, 44% of the raw material of 2-deoxy-scyllo-inosose was collected.
