Phenylphosphorus tetrachloride → Bis(nonafluorobutyl)phosphinyl chloride
Participants
| Role | Name | HCID | Charge |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reactant | Phenylphosphorus tetrachloride | HCID 12468899 | — |
| Reactant | Bis(nonafluorobutyl)phosphinic acid | HCID 14169491 | — |
| Solvent | Chloroform | HCID 6212 | — |
| Product | Bis(nonafluorobutyl)phosphinyl chloride | HCID 14294507 | 63% |
Reaction Steps
Variant a) 2.49 g (5.0 mmol) of bis(nonafluorobutyl)phosphinic acid are added dropwise at room temperature to a solution of 1.47 g (5.9 mmol) of phenyltetrachlorophosphorane in 3 cm3 of dry chloroform, and the mixture is stirred for a further 50 minutes. Chloroform is separated off by distillation, and bis(nonafluorobutyl)phosphinyl chloride is distilled off at atmospheric pressure, giving 1.62 g of bis(nonafluorobutyl)phosphinyl chloride, which corresponds to a yield of 63%, based on the phosphinic acid employed.
