| Role | Name | HCID | Charge |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reactant | Potassium Carbonate | HCID 11430 | — |
| Reactant | Methyl alpha-bromo-2-chlorophenylacetate | HCID 10730282 | — |
| Reactant | Tetrahydrothienopyridine hydrochloride | HCID 68420022 | — |
| Solvent | Acetone | HCID 180 | — |
| Product | Clopidogrel | HCID 60606 | — |
Reaction Steps
Tetrahydrothienopyridine hydrochloride from Example 1 was reacted with α-bromo-2-chlorophenyl acetic acid methyl ester in acetone in the presence of potassium carbonate to give racemic clopidogrel. After inorganic salt filtration, the product was recovered as bisulfate, by addition of sulfuric acid.
