Reaction Steps
In analogy to the procedure described in example 1 d], [rac]-2-ethoxy-3-(7-hydroxy-benzo[b]thiophen-4-yl)-propionic acid methyl ester was reacted with 2-(5-methyl-2-phenyl-thiazol-4-yl)-ethanol [PCT Int. Appl. (2002), WO 02/18355 A1] in tetrahydrofuran in the presence of triphenylphosphine and DIAD (diisopropyl azodicarboxylate) to yield [rac]-2-ethoxy-3-{7-[2-(5-methyl-2-phenyl-thiazol-4-yl)-ethoxy]-benzo[b]thiophen-4-yl}-propionic acid methyl ester as colorless viscous oil.
