Reaction Steps
To a solution of (R)-1-[4-(4-benzyl-4-hydroxy-piperidin-1-yl)-pyrimidin-2-yl]-ethyl butyrate (prepared according to the method of Example 174, Step A, 0.20 g, 0.52 mmol) in methanol (5 mL) was added 1 N aqueous sodium hydroxide (1 mL) and stirred for 4 h at ambient temperature. The mixture was diluted with dichloromethane and washed once with water, once with saturated aqueous sodium chloride and the organic layer was dried over sodium sulfate and filtered. The filtrate was evaporated to give the title compound as a foam, 0.12 g (68%). 1H NMR (CDCl3, 300 MHz) δ 1.49 (d, 3H), 1.74 (br s, 2H), 1.82 (m, 2H), 2.08 (m, 2H), 3.42 (m, 2H), 4.42 (br s, 1H), 4.71 (q, 1H), 6.43 (d, 1H), 7.33-7.48 (m, 5H), 8.21 (d, 1H); MS (CI) 314 (MH+).
