A sample of 5-(4-methoxybenzenesulfonyl)-5-[5-(3-nitrophenyl)pent-4-ynyl]-thiazolidine-2,4-dione of Example 118 was reduced with iron in acetic acid to give the title compound as crystals, m.p. 135-138° C.
