Procedure
To a solution of (±) methyl 3-[4-[2-(Phenoxazin-10-yl)ethoxy]phenyl]-2-phenoxypropanoate (300 mg, 0.6 mmol) obtained in example 34 in methanol (15 mL) was added 10% NaOH solution (5 mL). The reaction was stirred at room temperature for 10 h. Methanol was removed and the residue was acidified with 2N HCl, extracted with ethylacetated (3×10 mL). The organic layer was washed with water, brine, dried and concentrated. The residue was chromatographed using 30% ethylacetate:pet, ether to afford a third liquid which was triturated with per ether to yield the title compound as a solid (192 mg, 66%). mp: 119-120° C.
