Reaction Steps

A solution of 2-(N-acetyl-N-pent-4-ynylamino)pyrimidine (3.49 g, 17.2 mmol) in nitrobenzene (35 mL) was heated under argon at 180° C. for 2 days. The reaction mixture was cooled and loaded directly onto a dry silica get column. The column was first eluted with methylene chloride to wash off the nitrobenzene and then was eluted with ether to give after evaporation in vacuo to give the title compound as a pale yellow solid:
