Procedure

To 4-2 (6.3 g, 10.26 mmol) in 700 ml CH3OH was added 650 mg 10% Pd on C and the resulting mixture stirred under 1 atm of H2 for 48 h. The catalyst was removed by filtration through celite and the filtrate concentrated to give a colorless glass which was triturated with Et2 O and filtered to afford 4-3 as a white solid.
