Reaction Steps
NaH (15 mg, 0.38 mmol) was added to a stirred solution of 6-methoxy-3-phenyl-4-(trifluoromethyl)-1H-pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridine (73 mg, 0.25 mmol) in DMF (3 ml) and the resulting mixture was stirred for 30 min. Then methyl iodide (0.06 ml, 0.99 mmol) was added and the mixture was stirred for additional 1 h. To the mixture saturated aqueous NH4Cl solution was added and the solution was extracted with EtOAc. The organic layer was washed with water and brine, filtered and dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate. The organic layer was concentrated under reduced pressure. The crude product was purified by flash column chromatography (2% EtOAc in hexane) to yield the title compound (72 mg, 94%). [LCMS RtC=0.93 min; [M+H]+=307.0]
