To a stirred suspension of (E)-2-(2-(benzyloxy)-4-(ethoxymethoxy)-5-isopropylbenzylidene)-N-(1-methyl-1H-indol-5-yl)hydrazinecarboxamide in ethanol was added NaOH and stirred. To the resultant mixture, was added K3Fe(CN)6 at once and the resultant mixture was stirred at reflux temperature till the reaction is complete, checked by TLC. The mixture was cooled and the inorganics were filtered off. The residues were thoroughly washed with EtOH and filtrates were collected. The combined filtrates were concentrated and crude mixture was washed with water and extracted with EtOAc. Drying and concentration produced brown solid, which was filtered and washed with ether. The crude was carried out to the next reaction without further purification.
