Reaction Steps

K2CO3 (12 mg, 0.087 mmol) was added to compound II (20 mg, 0.058 mmol) in DMF (2 mL) at rt under Ar(g). After 15 min CH3I (0.004 mL, 0.058 mmol) was added and the reaction was stirred at 50° C. for 3 h30. Brine (15 mL) and EtOAc (15 mL) were added, then the phases were separated, and the aqueous phase was extracted with EtOAc (2×5 mL). The organic phases were combined then dried over MgSO4, filtered, and subsequently evaporated under reduced pressure. The resulting residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography eluting with hexane/EtOAc (80:20 then 70:30) to furnish III as a colourless oil (11.65 mg, 56%).
