3-[4-(4-Methanesulfonylpiperazin-1-yl)phenyl]-8-azabicyclo[3.2.1]oct-2-ene-8-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (0.83 g, 1.85 mmol) is solubilized in 93 ml of methoxyethanol. Palladium-on-carbon at 10% (0.395 g) is then added. The reaction medium is stirred for 5 h under 30 psi of hydrogen at 25° C. After filtration on Celite® and concentration, 0.76 g of expected 3-[4-(4-methanesulfonylpiperazin-1-yl)phenyl]-8-azabicyclo[3.2.1]octane-8-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester is obtained.
