Reaction Steps

A solution of the 3-(quinolin-4-yloxy)propan-1-ol obtained in step a) (0.5298 g, 2.6 mmol) was treated with triethylamine (0.60 mL) and methanesulfonyl chloride (0.55 g, 4.8 mmol) in dichloromethane (5 mL). After the starting material was consumed, the reaction was diluted with dichloromethane, washed with water, aq NaHCO3 and evaporated. The residue was purified by column chromatography on SiO2 and eluted with ethyl acetate. The product was obtained as a light yellow solid (0.3868 g, 53%). 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3): 2.43 (2H, m), 3.00 (3H, s), 4.38 (2H, t, J=5.8 Hz), 4.55 (2H, t, J=5.8 Hz), 6.80 (1H, d, J=5.5 Hz), 7.55 (1H, t, J=8.0 Hz), 7.75 (1H, ddd, J=1.2, 7.0, 8.2 Hz), 8.20 (1H, d, J=8.4 Hz), 8.13 (1H, d, J=8.4 Hz), 8.77 (1H, d, J=5.3 Hz).
