Benzyl (1S)-2-{8-[(tert-butoxycarbonyl)(methyl)amino]-3-azabicyclo[3.2.1]oct-3-yl}-1-[(4-cyanophenoxy)methyl]ethylcarbamate (see step (vi) above; 1.8 g, 3.3 mmol) was dissolved in ethanol (50 mL of 95%). The solution was hydrogenated over 5% Pd/C for 1 h, after which the mixture was filtered through Celite®. The filtrate was concentrated in vacuo to give 1.3 g (95%) of the sub-title compound.
