To a solution of 1-[2-(2-thienyl)ethyl]-4-(ethyl-1,3,4-oxadiazolyl)-4-(N-phenylpropionamido)piperidine (660 mg, 1.50 mmol) in ethyl acetate (20 ml), oxalic acid (136 mg, 1.51 mmol, in 3 ml EtoAc) was added dropwise. The resulting mixture was heated to 70° C. and methanol added dropwise until it became a clear solution. The solution was cooled to room temperature on standing for 2 hours. The precipitate was filtered to afford the product (630 mg, 1.19 mmol) as a white crystalline compound, mp 160°-162° C. Anal.
