Combine 3′,5′-dichloro-4′-[(R)-trans-1-(4-methoxy-cyclohexyl)-2-oxo-pyrrolidin-3-ylmethyl]-biphenyl-4-carboxylic acid methyl ester (1.60 g, 3.3 mmol), MeOH (15 mL) and 1N NaOH solution (15 mL). Stir for 3 hours at 70° C. Concentrate under vacuum and quench with 1N HCl. Filter the white precipitate and rinse the solid with water. Dry under vacuum to recover 1.32 g (86%) of the title compound: MS (m/z): 476 (M+).
