A similar procedure as described in Example 43, step 5 was used, starting from 4-[2-(2-ethoxycarbonyl-ethyl)-3-[6-(3-ethoxy-5-pyrimidin-5-yl-phenoxy)-hexyl]-phenoxy]-butyric acid ethyl ester (76 mg, 0.13 mmol) and 1.0 N aqueous sodium hydroxide (1.3 mL) to afford 4-[2-(2-carboxy-ethyl)-3-[6-(3-ethoxy-5-pyrimidin-5-yl-phenoxy)-hexyl]-phenoxy]-butyric acid (63 mg, 92%) as a light brown solid: ES(+)-HRMS m/e calcd for C31H38N2O7 (M+H)+ 551.2752. found 551.2750.
