A similar procedure as described in Example 43, step 5 was used, starting from 4-[3-[6-(3-benzyloxy-5-thiophen-3-yl-phenoxy)-hexyl]-2-(2-ethoxycarbonyl-ethyl)-phenoxy]-butyric acid ethyl ester (160 mg, 0.24 mmol) and 1.0 N aqueous sodium hydroxide (5 mL) to afford 4-[3-[6-(3-benzyloxy-5-thiophen-3-yl-phenoxy)-hexyl]-2-(2-carboxy-ethyl)-phenoxy]-butyric acid (129 mg, 88%) as a light brown waxy solid: ES(+)-HRMS m/e calcd for C36H40O7S (M+Na)+ 639.2387. found 639.2386.
