A similar procedure as described in Example 43, step 5 was used, starting from 4-[3-[6-(5-cyclopentylmethoxy-3′-fluoro-biphenyl-3-yloxy)-hexyl]-2-(2-ethoxycarbonyl-ethyl)-phenoxy]-butyric acid ethyl ester (104 mg, 0.15 mmol) and 1.0 N aqueous sodium hydroxide (5 mL) to afford 4-[2-(2-carboxy-ethyl)-3-[6-(5-cyclopentylmethoxy-3′-fluoro-biphenyl-3-yloxy)-hexyl]-phenoxy]-butyric acid (92 mg, 97%) as a off-white waxy solid: ES(+)-HRMS m/e calcd for C37H45FO7 (M+H)+ 621.3222. found 621.3222.
