Dissolved to 3-[1-benzyl-3-(4-cyano-phenyl)-ureidomethyl]-benzoic acid methyl ester (106 mg, 0.27 mmol) in 1:1 mixture of THF/MeOH (4 mL). To this was added a 15% NaOH solution and the mixture stirred overnight at room temperature. LC-MS analysis indicated the desired carboxylic acid. Concentrated the mixture and the residue was suspended in 5 mL of H2O and made acidic by the addition of 5% HCl, resulting in a white ppt., which was filtered and dried to give 101.6 mg of 3-[1-benzyl-3-(4-cyano-phenyl)-ureidomethyl]-benzoic acid.
