A round bottom flask was charged with (R)-2-(5-(3-fluoro-4-(trifluoromethyl)benzyl-carbamoyl)-6-methyl-1-oxoisoquinolin-2(1H)-yl)propyl acetate (0.47 g, 0.00093 mol), potassium carbonate (0.22 g, 0.0016 mol) and methanol (100 mL, 2 mol). The reaction was stirred at room temperature for 1 hour. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure and the residue was purified by reverse phase HPLC to afford the desired product as a an off white solid.
