trans-(tert-Butoxy)-N-(4-methoxycyclohexyl)carboxamide (642 mg, 2.80 mmol) was dissolved in ethanol (5 mL) and cooled to 0° C. Acetyl chloride (1.5 mL) was added and the reaction was allowed to reach room temperature and stirred overnight. Solvent was removed in vacuo to give the desired product (458 mg, quantitative yield) as a hydrochloride salt. ES-MS: 130 (M+1).
