3-{3-Dimethylcarbamoyl-4-[(4′-trifluoromethylbiphenyl-2-carbonyl)amino]phenyl}propionic acid ethyl ester (0.843 g) was dissolved in ethanol (4 mL), and 4N aqueous sodium hydroxide (1 mL) was added thereto. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 hours, concentrated, acidified with 1N hydrochloric acid, and extracted with ethyl acetate. The extract was washed with water and concentrated to give the title compound (0.740 g) as a colorless solid.
