1-{3-Dimethylcarbamoyl-4-[(4′-trifluoromethylbiphenyl-2-carbonyl)amino]phenyl}piperidine-4-carboxylic acid ethyl ester was dissolved in methanol (5 mL), and 4N aqueous sodium hydroxide (1.5 mL) was added thereto. The solution was stirred at room temperature for 2 hours, concentrated, and acidified with 1N hydrochloric acid. The resulting precipitated solid was filtered and washed with water to give the title compound (1.064 g).
