Procedure

This compound was made from 1-bromonaphthaldehyde in the same manner as compound 5b: 1H NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3) δ (ppm) 3.42 (s, 3H), 4.75 (s, 2H), 4.81 (s, 2H), 7.5-7.7 (m, 3H), 7.99 (d, J=7.7 Hz, 2H), 8.22 (d, J=7.7 Hz, 1H).
