A mixture of [3-(2,6-dichloro-5-isopropyl-pyrimidin-4-yloxy)-5-methyl-phenyl]-methanol (2.36 g, 7.22 mmol), PCC (1.56 g, 7.22 mmol), and dried celite (2 g) was stirred in dichloromethane (20 ml) for 2 hr. at room temperature. The mixture was then filtered through a short silica gel pad and washed with EA. The combined filtrate was evaporated in vacuo and the residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (eluent, EA:hexanes (1:15)) to afford 1.71 g (73%) of a pale yellow syrup. 1H NMR (200 MHz, CDCl3) δ 1.42 (6H, d, J=7.2 Hz), 2.49 (3H, s), 3.61 (1H, m), 7.20 (1H, s), 7.44 (1H, s), 7.62 (1H, s), 10.01 (1H, s).
