0.84 g (3.78 mmol) of the ester obtained in Step A is dissolved in 20 ml of anhydrous ethanol; the medium is then adjusted to a basic pH using a molar solution of sodium ethanolate (0.5 ml). After 18 hours of stirring under an inert atmosphere and at ambient temperature, the reaction mixture is neutralised with DOWEX X-8 resin (acid form). The solid is then filtered off; the filtrate is then concentrated in vacuo. The residue obtained is purified on a silica column (eluant:AcOEt/PE:50/50) to yield the title compound in the form of a white solid.
