Reaction Steps

A solution of N,N-diisopropyl-3-(2-trifluoromethylphenyl)-3-phenylpropenamide (2.95 g, 8.1 mmol) in ethanol (50 mL) was hydrogenated over Pd/C (10%, 300 mg) at normal pressure for 24 h. The catalyst was filtered off, the solvent partly evaporated and the product collected after crystallisation. Yield 1.78 g (60%). 1H NMR (CDCl3-d) δ1.16 (m, 6H), 1.30 (m, 6H), 2.86 (dd, 1H), 3.11 (dd, 1H), 3.41 (m, 1H), 4.03 (m, 1H), 5.12 (m,1H) and 7.10-7.78 (m, 9H).
