To a solution of (S)-3-cyclohexyl-3-hydroxypropyl 4-bromobenzenesulfonate (J. A. Werner et al, J. Org. Chem., 1996, 61, 587), (40 mg, 0.106 mmol) in dichloromethane (3 ml) was added silica (50 mg) and pyridinium chlorochromate (20 mg, 0.09 mnol), and the reaction mixture was left to stir at room temperature for 16 h. The reaction mixture was subjected to direct silica (5 g) column chromatography eluting with dichloromethane:hexane (4:1) to afford the title compound as a yellow solid (38 mg, 96%).
