A solution of 3-(4-fluorophenyl)-1-hydroxy-2-(pyridin-4-yl)-1H-pyrrolo[3,2-b]pyridine (0.38 g, 1.25 mmol) in chloroform (8 ml) and methanol (2 ml) was added to a solution of diazomethane at 0° C. The reaction was warmed to room temperature and stirred overnight. The solvent was removed in vacuo and the residue was purified by flash column chromatography (50%-100% ethyl acetate/hexanes gradient) to 3-(4-fluorophenyl)-1-methoxy-2-(pyridin-4-yl)-1H-pyrrolo[3,2-b]pyridine as an off white solid (210 mg).
