Procedure
According to example 17, 3.36 g of 2-cyclohexylbenzyl alcohol was treated with 0.59 mL of PBr3 in 25 mL of anhydrous CH2Cl2 to afford 3.90 g of crude product (90% pure by 1H-NMR). This material was vacuum distilled via short path (1.0 mmHg, 117-120° C.) to afford 3.54 g (79%) of 2-cyclohexylbenzyl bromide as a clear liquid.
Workup
- customto afford 3.90 g of crude product (90% pure by 1H-NMR)
- distillationdistilled via short path (1.0 mmHg, 117-120° C.)
