AlCl3 (307 mg, 2.30 mmol) was added to a solution of N-butyl-N-methyl-3-{(4-chloro-2-methoxybenzoyl)amino}benzamide (345 mg, 0.92 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (3.7 mL) at 25°. The mixture was kept at 25° for 17 h. The mixture then was partitioned between EtOAc (75 mL) and aqueous 1 N HCl (50 mL). The organic layer was dried (MgSO4), filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by flash chromatography (10-40μ silica gel, EtOAc:hexane, 1:1) to give the title compound (272 mg, 82% yield) as a white foam:
