Ethyl cis(±)-2-(4-{[(benzyloxy)carbonyl]amino}-3-methoxypiperidin-1-yl)-5-methyl-1,3-thiazole-4-carboxylate obtained in Example (40d) (75 mg, 0.17 mmol) was dissolved in ethanol (3 mL). A 10% palladium-carbon catalyst (40 mg) was added, and the mixture was stirred in a hydrogen atmosphere for 21 hours. The reaction solution was filtered through celite and then concentrated under reduced pressure to obtain 44.9 mg of the title compound as a colorless oily substance. The resulting compound was used for the next reaction without purification.
