Reaction Steps
By the procedure of Example 3, using a reaction time of 64 hours at room temperature following the cold phosgene perfusion, ethyl 1-(2ethoxy-1-naphthyl)-1-hydroxymethanecarboximidate hydrochloride (5.0 g., 16.1 mmoles) in 200 ml. of tetrahydrofuran was converted to toluene recrystallized 5-(2-ethoxy-1-naphthyl)oxazolidine-2,4-dione (0.57 g., m.p. 221°-224° C., m/e 271).
