2,5-Diphenyl-1,2,3-triazole-carboxylic acid ethyl ester was prepared analogously to the process described in Swiss Patent Specification 552,603, starting from 2-phenylazobenzoylacetic acid ethyl ester and ammonium acetate, in the presence of copper-(II) chloride dihydrate, in ethanol.
