Reaction Steps

A mixture of 2-(1-hydroxy-2-(methoxymethoxy)ethyl)thiazole (0.93 mmol, 0.18 g), TBSCl (1.1 mmol, 0.17 g) and DBU (1.1 mmol, 0.16 mL) in THF (1 mL) was stirred at rt overnight. The reaction was diluted with water and extracted with ethyl ether, dried (MgSO4), filtered and concentrated. The residue was subjected to flash chromatography (10% ethyl acetate/hexane) to afford 0.20 g (70%) of 2-(1-(t-butyldimethylsiloxy)-2-(methoxymethoxy)ethyl)thiazole.
