Reaction Steps
0.5 g (1.7 mMol) of 1-[4-[(α-ethoxycarbonyl)benzyloxy]phenyl]ethanol and 0.22 g (2.2 mMol) of triethylamine are dissolved in 10 ml of methylene chloride. At 5° C., 0.23 g (2.0 mMol) of mesyl chloride are added dropwise with stirring. After one hour at ambient temperature the reaction mixture is poured onto ice water, extracted with methylene chloride and dried over sodium sulphate. The crude product obtained is reacted directly without any further purification.
