2-(Allyloxymethyl)morpholine (39.5 g, 0.25 mol) was dissolved in 1,4-dioxane (500 ml), and potassium tert-butoxide (28.2 g, 0.25 mol) was added to the solution at room temperature, followed by heating under reflux for 3 hours. After completion of the reaction, water was added to the reaction mixture at room temperature, and the reaction mixture was extracted with chloroform (3×1000 ml). The extract was washed with a saturated aqueous solution of sodium chloride (1000 ml) and dried over magnesium sulfate. The solvent was evaporated to give crude 2-(1-propenyloxymethyl)morpholine (40.0 g) as a pale yellow oily substance.
