Reaction Steps
A solution of 404 mg of the product of Step 5, 200 mg of NBS, and 5 mg of benzoylperoxide in 10 mL of CCl4 was heated in a 80° C. oil bath under light from a W-lamp. After 30 min, the reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature, diluted with 10 mL of 3:1 EtOAc/hexane, and filtered through a pad of silica gel. The filtrate was concentrated in vacuo to give 400 mg of the crude title compound which was used for the next step without further purification.
