The trioxime from Step 2 (3 g) is dissolved in ethyl alcohol (250 ml) saturated with ammonia gas and Raney nickel W-6 (2 g) added. The mixture is subjected to 500 psi hydrogen pressure and heated to 90° for 2 hours. The catalyst is removed by filtration and 220 ml ethyl alcohol by distillation. A pale yellow crystalline material is filtered and dried. Yield 2.5 g (92% of theory) mp 182-185°. Calculated for C27H27 n3 : C, 82.4%; H, 6.92%; N, 10.68%. Found: C, 82.41%; H, 6.95%; N, 10.70%.
