A mixture of 7.76 g. of 3-chloro-6-[3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]pyridazine, 6.66 g. of hydroxyacethydrazide and 200 ml. of n-butyl alcohol is heated at reflux temperature for 18 hours. The mixture is evaporated in vacuo and the residue is triturated with dichloromethane-hexane. The mixture is filtered and the solid is recrystallized from ethyl acetate to give the product of the Example as off-white crystals, m.p. 224°-226° C.
