Reflux a mixture of 200 ml of the 50% potassium hydroxide solution of Step A, 24.15 gm (97 mmoles) of o-iodobenzoic acid and 7.5 gm of copper metal powder for 11/2 hours. Cool the mixture and filter. Dilute the filtrate to twice its volume with water and acidify. Separate the solids by filtration, wash well with water and air dry.
