To 1-methyl-4-(2-nitro-4-trifluoromethyl-benzyl)-piperazine (543 mg, 1.8 mmol) in MeOH (18 mL) was added 10% Pd/C (95 mg, 0.09 mmol). The mixture was stirred under an atmosphere of hydrogen at RT for 2 h. The resulting mixture was filtered through a pad of Celite and concentrated to yield 2-(4-methyl-piperazin-1-ylmethyl)-5-trifluoromethyl-phenylamine. MS m/z=274 [M+1]+. Calc'd for C13H18F3N3: 273.30.
