Methyl 4-(7-methoxy-2-(methylthio)-4-oxo-4H-chromen-3-yl)benzoate (36 mg, 0.101 mmol) in dry dichloromethane (5.0 mL) was cooled to 0° C. under nitrogen and BBr3 in DCM (1.0 M, 0.2 mL, 0.202 mmol) was added rapidly. Then the mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight. The reaction was quenched with water and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by prep-HPLC to afford Example 11 as an off-white solid (8.2 mg, 25%).
